On 8 February 2010 the Association of Lithuanian Translation Agencies has been established. UAB Metropolio vertimai is one of the founders of the Association.

The mission of the Association of Translation Agencies is to strengthen the position of companies providing translation services in Lithuania by ensuring highest quality services and to develop a relationship between translation agencies and clients as well as translators and interpreters based on cooperation and mutual trust.

The main reasons for establishing the Association are as follows:

1) lack of common standards (in terms of quality, services, etc.) in the Lithuanian translation market ;

2) the market players’ isolation, preventing from solving common problems or implementing joint projects relevant to all market players;

3) absence of possibilities to represent Lithuanian translation agencies’ interests abroad and in international organisations;

4) insufficient comprehension of translation services.

We strongly believe that the Association of Translation Agencies will contribute to better representation of interests of all players of the translation services’ market. It will not only help professional translators and interpreters to ensure good working conditions and salary that fully corresponds to their qualification and competencies, but also will allow the clients of translation agencies selecting the best translation services’ provider meeting their highest requirements.
